What’s happening with Georgia rates

Georgia's minimum liability is 25/50/25. Uninsured-motorist coverage is optional but worth carrying — the Insurance Research Council put 19.0% of Georgia drivers uninsured in 2023, the 11th-highest share in the country.

Unusually, Georgia auto rates are falling in 2026. Commissioner John King has approved a string of decreases — Travelers −10.1%, Safe Auto −9%, Allstate −5%, and the USAA group −2.6% — so this is a good year to re-shop at renewal rather than auto-renew.

Georgia home insurance has moved the other way: the state saw a 40.2% rise from 2020 to 2025 (18th-highest nationally, per LendingTree's 2026 report), driven by hail, severe convective storms, tree damage and rebuild-cost inflation.
